Tips For Roulette
Keep these tips in mind when you are going to play Roulette:
The lower the house edge the better your odds. Your odds are better playing the European Roulette game using a single zero wheel than playing the American Roulette game using a double zero wheel. The American wheel has a casino advantage of 5.26% vs. the European wheel which has a lower casino advantage of 2.70%.
Even lower casino advantages can be found if the casino offers an "En Prison" option. When a green number wins (0 on European wheels, 00 and 0 on American wheels) the player, if he/she has placed an even bet, can either take back one half of the bet or imprison the bet. When the En Prison option is selected the wager is set aside and you wait for the next spin of the wheel to decide the bet. If the original bet wins on the next spin the wager is returned (without paying off) but if the original bet loses on the next spin the money is lost forever. For the few times that green wins again the wager remains imprisoned and the wager outcome is decided on the next spin of the wheel. The "En Prison" option lowers the casino advantage; when using the American wheel the house edge drops from 5.26% to 2.63% and when using the European wheel it drops from 2.70% to 1.35%.
Don't change your bet with every spin always make the same set of wagers. The theory is that the ball should hit every number equally over time so by always betting the same you have a better chance of winning. Some players observe the wheel for some time before placing a bet then wager on a number that hasn't come up for some time in the belief that it is overdue and should win sooner.
Don't bet the five numbered bet 00, 0, 1, 2 and 3. This is the worst bet in Roulette it alone has a house advantage of 7.89% all other Roulette bets have a house advantage of 5.26%.
There is little to no proof that any Roulette system will give you a winning edge over the house, so don't place too much trust in any of them.
Decide your limits before you enter the casino and stick to them no matter how you are doing. Deciding on the amount you are prepared to lose and the amount you are content with winning beforehand helps eliminate poor decisions made in haste while playing.
Remember the house will always win in the long term, the house advantage will guarantee it. Players however are playing short term, they can win, so if you have won your limit quit for the day. The longer you play the greater the chance that the house edge will win and you profits will disappear.
